Understanding & Benefits

The Benefits of Holistic Training on modern Aircraft

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part-66 regulation establishes a number of categories for aircraft maintenance engineer licenses, and we concentrate on the two main categories B1- Mechanical and B2 -Avionics.

B1 -Mechanical: This category focuses on the aircraft's structure, engines (power-plant), and mechanical/electrical systems, including hydraulics, fuel, and landing gear. B1 engineers are qualified to perform and certify a wide range of maintenance tasks within these areas.
B2-Avionics: This category specialises in electronic and avionic systems, encompassing communication, navigation, flight control, radar, and instrumentation. B2 engineers possess expertise in diagnostics and troubleshooting of complex digital systems.

Modern aircraft seamlessly integrate mechanical and electronic systems, necessitating that technicians possess a comprehensive understanding of both areas to effectively troubleshoot complex, interconnected issues. Engineers holding both B1 and B2 licenses are therefore in high demand among airlines and maintenance organisations (MROs), as they can perform a broader range of tasks.

At AeCAT we believe that a combined B1/B2 course provides a holistic understanding of the aircraft as an interconnected system, encompassing its physical structure, engines, and digital systems and that this may be beneficial even for those without the joint licence.

The combined training can encompass the theoretical knowledge requirements for both B1 and B2 certifications within a single, integrated program in a much shorter time than coverage independently.
AeCat holds approval for a range of Training on the aircraft manufacturer listed below.
