RAD Grade 6 Ballet

Grade 6 is the first of the RAD's higher graded examinations, designed for students who wish to continue to pursue dance as a serious hobby, and gain additional UCAS points towards college and university entry.

Grade 6 ballet sits at Level 3 on the RQF (The Regulated Qualifications Framework). The RQF is a comprehensive structure for all qualifications (apart from degrees) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The RQF includes qualifications of many types and in all fields of study, including GCSEs, A levels, and NVQs, placing dance exams in a wider context of learning and achievement, and recognising equivalence in levels of knowledge, skills and understanding. This puts Grade 6 ballet as equivalent to A level / NVQ level 3 and carries 8-12 UCAS points depending on the grade achieved.

Grade 6 uniform is a black thin strapped leotard and tights. Students continue to study character, with an amalgamation of complex partner work in Polish, Russian and Hungarian styles, so character skirts and shoes are still required.

Whilst Pointework is not part of the examination syllabus, students will study pointework in the last part of each lesson.
